Well, I’m not so sure of the second part, but I’m definitely another year older…the big ole ripe age of 33.
Saturday was my birthday, and it was a great day!
We started celebrating Friday though…
I got my hair cut and colored from my one of my dear friends and my hair’s fairy Godmother and I was feeling good facing my birthday. There’s something about beautiful weather, a new hair-do, and some Matchbox 20 blaring from your car to feel like a new girl…even if it is in a minivan.
Some friends came over Friday with their kids after school. We played outside, had some cocktails, and ordered pizza {so much for calorie counting today}. It was a great way to start my birthday. And, I’m one lucky girl…not only did my friends come and help celebrate on my birthday eve, but they brought me not one, but two cakes {seriously…no calorie counting here.}
It was such a fun night and then I was ready to start my birthday!
After waking up and snuggling with all my peeps for a little while we decided we would go out to breakfast because that’s my favorite meal of the day, and I love going out to breakfast.
We were torn on our choices of either the Farmer’s Market or Briggs. We decided on Briggs because it was closer and we were hungry.
We should’ve gone to the Farmer’s Market.
We got seated right away but the service was so s-l-o-w. It took about 25 minutes just to get our drinks. Then Eric and I were pretty disappointed in our food.
Note to self…for a good breakfast out, always go to the Farmer’s Market. They know how to cook up some good southern food.
But we got some cute pictures anyway.
After breakfast, it was a nice morning so we decided to head to the Farmer’s Market anyway…not to eat, just roam around and see what was there.
Of course we ended up at the Restaurant…or at least outside. The kids like the old timey buggies, plows, and small play area, so we let them play a little while.
The temperatures started to rise and we decided it was time to leave.
We headed home for a few and the kids wanted to go to the river. Close to our house they {whoever that may be} has put in a nice walkway down along the Neuse River. The kids like to go there, find paths down to the water’s edge, and throw sticks in the water. So, that’s what we did. They were content for over an hour.
We found a cool spot with a small hill and leaves and wouldn’t you know that Hunter found a “slide” in the leaves and mud…that’s my boy. This boy loves some leaves.
It was fun hanging with the kids and Eric and taking some fun pictures.
That night was fun as well.
Dallas and Daddy got dressed up and headed to a Daddy/Daughter dance and Dallas’ school. They both looked great and they were so excited.
Not to worry, I didn’t sit at home on my birthday.
My friend and old neighbor, Colleen had invited me to dinner with her and her mom {whom I just adore}, so I got gussied up too. Hunter went with me to Colleen’s to play with their girls while us big girls went to dinner.
He had a ball and so did we! We headed downtown Raleigh and ate at Buku. It was delicious and so much fun!
Starting Friday night up until the end of Saturday, I had a fabulous birthday! Definitely another year older and the jury is still out on the “smarter” part…I guess only time will tell.
But I will say that Saturday was filled with lots of fun with my family and not one whine or fuss came from my kids. And, there isn’t a big enough box or bow you could have wrapped that in to make it the best birthday present ever!
